Biography

Erik Stenbeck

Born 1951 in Norway

Art has dominated my life as long as I can remember.

I started out with drawing and painting which has culminated in photography.

I have studied Art History and languages with a focus on communication.

Mysticism of nature and its relation to man is what I try to explore in my photos.

My images challenge the observer “to see the unseen”.

The subjects that flood my photography are, however, varied, from the human figure to landscapes and architecture, with a particular inclination for the black and white range.

Existential insecurity is a central theme of many of my images.

My photographs are accidental observations in daily life. I try to catch the spontaneity of a situation. None of the compositions are constructed.
